Senseless Ogre replied to Legendary Difficulty
I want to make a thread discussion this difficulty so we can discuss tips for completing it. So far I've only played solo, but I imagine multiplayer co-op makes this much easier. First of all is determining what actually unlocks legendary mode, as when I first started a playthrough it went right into the tutorial at the default difficulty. I played on a save file for several hours before going back to the main menu and creating a new save, and this time it let me start a new run on legendary so I made a second file. One point worth discussing is what actually voids this achievement and does an entirely new file have to be created on Legendary and if changing the difficulty at any point would void or exploit it. Next up are actual tips. My biggest struggle has been lapis management. I burned through the lapis you get from the first few missions and once you are depleted it became a big grind for me to get more. I spent so much time trying to take out a base over and over just narrowly chipping away each attempt, only to run out of lapis to repeat a long grind of farming enemies and waiting for villager chests to restock. At the pace I was going, for every enemy base I took out, two or three more went up. It wasn't until many hours later when I started unlock the "First of" golems. These might be essential to completing this difficulty because they are very powerful, always respawn, summon units, and require no additional resources once unlocked. If anyone is struggling early game I highly recommend you get these. One feature I have not fully figured out yet is how to properly defend a village. No matter how much I spam structures to protect the village, the night raids always destroy them with seemingly no issue. I eventually just quit worrying about defending bases and just reclaim them in the morning, which is made very simple with the golems I mentioned above. One major bug I might have discovered involves a boss battle. I destroyed a portal in a base and then a cutscene played where a boss shows up, but as soon as the cutscene ended it bugged out and there was no boss fight because the base was destroyed. I did not get the achievement related to this fight, and now I don't know if the story campaign is even completable. I have way too many hours already in this run to want to start over. If anyone else encountered this bug please post about it and let me know if its actually game breaking or not. I'm hoping worse case I just need to speedrun to the boss on easy to unlock this. Please let me know what you all figured out.
